I was 19 when the idea of creating something as insane as the Monster Museum hit me. By 21 I was in business. 1982-1984
After failing to secure a location in Virginia Beach, I ended up in the unlikely tourist area of Natural Bridge. I was a naive ball of energy waiting to explode on some scene. Any scene.
Before the movies emphasized them, I had built a museum where people could confront their subconscious fears. The fears were the monsters. My museum actually became a place where people could symbolically leave their fears behind by actually putting a face to them. The imagination can be much more terrifying than the real deal.
The Monster Museum became the Enchanted Castle in 1985 to broaden the audience with more fantasy appeal.
